My Pregnant Body - Week by Week PregnancyWeek 1 - Watch for Signs of OvulationAlthough you aren't pregnant yet, the clock on your (potential) pregnancy has already started ticking. It's a little confusing, but let me try to explain. Women with a regular 28-day cycle generally ovulate (and can potentially conceive) 11 to 21 days after the first day of their last period. But because it's so hard to pinpoint exactly when conception occurs, health care providers use the date of the first day of your last period to calculate your estimated due date. Now, if your cycle is shorter or longer than 28 days (and many are) your doctor will make adjustments as needed and then confirm your due date with measurements and ultrasounds taken later in your pregnancy. A normal pregnancy lasts approximately 280 days (40 weeks), although your baby will be considered full term at 37 weeks. So even though you aren't pregnant yet, this may be your month! Continue to take your temperature, monitor other signs of approaching ovulation, and then do the "baby-dance" when all the signs are right!
